Lay Myathna Pagoda (AD 9th Century)

image

Lay Myet Hna is a cave pagoda built in the Thayekhittaya Pyu period. The pagoda stands on a square house with four arched entrances. The wall on each side measures 22 feet and 5 inches. On the square house are three low terraces with curvilinear roofs all conjuring inward. The whole structure is built of brincks.

Inside the square house stands the central pillar in the centre. On four sides of this pillar are stone slabs on which are sculpted relief figures of the Buddha. Now only the slabs on the north and south side survive.

The date and donor of this pagoda are still unknown.
