Bei Bei Pagoda ( AD 9th-10th Century)

Bei Bei pagoda is one of the cave pagodas of the Thayekhittaya Pyu period. It was built on a square house with only one entrance facing east. On the top of the house are three small terraces. A plain undecorated sikkara raises on the uppermost terraces. On the wall are found niches and plaster molding.

Inside the house is a statue of the Buddha with his two great disciples, each on either side. Below stone statue are some inscription believed to be ancient Pyu letters.

Judging by the style of its architecture and that of the inscriptions, the construction date is probably A.D.10th Century. Its donor is still unknown.
